Best AI Video Editor for Android in 2026: Free & Paid Apps Compared

CapCut is the best AI video editor for most Android users in 2026: it is free, auto-captions speech and lists 4K 60fps export. VN is the best free Android editor without a watermark, Adobe Premiere (new to Android in September 2026) is the best free pro-style option, and KineMaster or PowerDirector suit people who want more AI tools and will pay for premium features.
This guide goes deeper on Android than our iPhone and Android overview: Play Store pricing, free-tier watermark rules, device requirements, and which free apps export clean video. On an iPhone? See the sibling guide to the best AI video editor for iPhone.
Facts checked October 20, 2026 against US Google Play listings and each vendor's own pages and help docs (see Sources). Play shows in-app purchases as a price range per item, and prices vary by country. Full disclosure: Loopdesk is our product. It runs in Chrome, not as a native Android app, and has no free plan.
What is the best AI video editor for Android?
For most people it is CapCut. If you want free exports without a watermark, choose VN. If you want a free pro-style timeline from a big vendor, choose Adobe Premiere. KineMaster and PowerDirector pack in more AI tools, with premium features behind a subscription, and InShot suits quick, simple posts.

The best AI video editing apps for Android in 2026
Rankings weigh time-saving AI features, watermark-free export, device requirements and price, from each vendor's documentation.
1. CapCut: best all-round AI editor for Android
CapCut is free and lists auto captions, text-to-speech in multiple languages and voices, background removal, motion tracking and "4K 60fps exports and smart HDR." It runs on Android 6.0 and later, the lowest requirement here. Some features and assets need a paid plan, and its watermark rules depend on what you use, so check the export before you post. For vertical edits, see our Shorts, Reels and TikTok guide.
2. VN: best free Android editor without a watermark
VN's site says it offers editing with "no watermarks - all for free," and its export help says exporting "does not require a VN Pro subscription" and that "4K HDR export is completely free." On-device auto captions are free and can strip filler words and silences; cloud captioning uses credits. The free app shows ads and caps you at 100 projects. VN Pro removes ads, lifts the cap and adds 100 credits a month.
3. Adobe Premiere: best free pro-style editor, new to Android
Premiere arrived on Google Play in September 2026 as "Adobe Premiere: Video Editor." The listing promises 4K export and "entirely free export without watermarks," and says you "only pay when you need Firefly generative AI credits." Adobe says it needs Android 13 or later, and the listing requires at least 5 GB of RAM. Adobe's own app page says generative AI features are currently only on iOS, so expect some AI tools to differ from the iPhone version.
4. KineMaster: best for AI tools on a layered timeline
KineMaster lists AI auto captions (in 36 languages, per its site), text-to-speech, noise removal, vocal separation, Magic Remover and upscaling, with 4K 60fps export. The free version adds a watermark: KineMaster says a Premium subscription "removes all the ads and the KineMaster watermark." Its FAQ suggests checking Settings > Device Performance Information to see the highest resolution and layer count your phone supports.
5. PowerDirector: best for AI generation and chat editing
PowerDirector lists "AI Video Edit by Chat," AI Auto Edit, text-to-video, image-to-video, a video enhancer and background removal, with export up to 4K. Auto captions sit under its premium benefits. It needs Android 10 or later. CyberLink doesn't publish mobile prices on its site, so check the in-app price before you subscribe.
6. InShot: best simple editor for quick posts
InShot covers the basics well: auto captions, AI text-to-speech, background removal and 4K 60fps export. Its terms say a subscription removes the InShot logo and ads, so expect the logo on free exports. It needs Android 8.0.
7. YouTube Create: best free Google editor for YouTube
YouTube Create is Google's free editing app, with "no cost, with no ads." It offers auto captions in select languages, an "Edit with AI" first draft, background cutout, audio cleanup and beat matching, and exports up to 4K at 60fps. Edit with AI and AI generation are available only in select countries. It needs Android 8.0 and 4 GB of RAM.
8. Google Photos: best for quick edits you already have
Google Photos' updated video editor can auto-enhance and stabilize clips, trim, change speed, and add music, text and filters. Highlight videos use templates with music, text and beat matching. Some tools depend on the phone: filters and effects need 3 GB of RAM and Android 8.0, Audio Eraser is Pixel 8 and later only, and non-Pixel phones on Android 9 can't edit video in Photos at all.
9. Loopdesk in Chrome: best browser-based agentic editor
Full disclosure: Loopdesk is our product. It is not a native app: it runs in Chrome (and other browsers) with no install, using WebGPU and WebCodecs. You describe the edit to Aura, its AI assistant, which can remove silences and filler words, add captions in 108 languages, reframe to 9:16 and batch-edit 50+ videos. Plans start at $19 a month ($15 billed annually) with unlimited watermark-free 1080p and 4K exports.
There is no free plan, trial or offline mode, it needs an internet connection, and long timelines are easier on a laptop than a phone.
Also considered: LumaFusion and Captions Lite
LumaFusion is a $29.99 pro timeline on Android 10 and later with 3 GB of RAM, but it advertises no AI features. The Captions app (from Mirage, formerly Captions) appears on Google Play as "Captions Lite," last updated in July 2026, and Captions says its listed plan prices reflect iOS.
Which free Android video editors don't add a watermark?
VN and Adobe Premiere both say their free exports carry no watermark, and both export up to 4K. KineMaster and InShot add a watermark or logo until you subscribe. CapCut, PowerDirector and YouTube Create don't document their free-tier watermark rules on the pages we read, so test one export first.
| App | Free export without watermark? | What you give up on free |
|---|---|---|
| VN | Yes, including 4K HDR | Ads, a 100-project cap, cloud captions need credits |
| Adobe Premiere | Yes, including 4K | Firefly generative credits |
| KineMaster | No; Premium removes it | Ads and premium assets |
| InShot | No; a subscription removes the logo | Ads and paid features |
| CapCut | Depends on features and assets used | Paid features and assets |
| Loopdesk | No free plan; paid plans never watermark | No free tier at all |

How do device performance and storage affect AI editing on Android?
On Android, the phone matters as much as the app. Requirements vary: Premiere needs 5 GB of RAM, YouTube Create 4 GB, and Google Photos' filters 3 GB, while CapCut runs on Android 6.0. Heavy 4K timelines and on-device AI need RAM, processing power and free storage, so check before a long edit.
- Check what your phone can handle. KineMaster's Device Performance Information screen shows the highest resolution and layer count your device supports. KineMaster also offers to re-encode 4K clips to 1440p or 1080p on phones that can't edit 4K.
- Free up storage before exporting. A 4K export needs room for the finished file alongside your originals and the project.
- Mind cloud vs on-device AI. VN runs its free caption models on the device; cloud captioning uses credits. Cloud tools need a steady connection.
- For browser editing, use a recent Chrome. Google says WebGPU, which browser editors such as Loopdesk use, is enabled by default from Chrome 121 on Android 12 and later with Qualcomm and ARM GPUs.
